ICT International: Visit from the Sugar Regulatory Authority Philippines

September 19, 2018 11:36 am

ICT International were recently host to a group of researchers from the Sugar Regulatory Authority Philippines and Bataan Peninsula State University. Whilst at ICT International the researchers received training in a variety of plant physiology instrumentation, sensors for precision agriculture, and remote monitoring systems. With the SFM1 Sap Flow Meter, and PSY1 Psychrometer being of particular relevance to their research in Sugar Cane and Mango crops.

Following the training ICT International facilitated a visit to the University of New England for a talk on satellite based modelling by Associate Professor Andrew Robson. Followed by a tour of the UNE SMART Farm and demonstration of the remote monitoring technology provided by ICT International.

The week was capped off with a series of talks and demonstrations on current research and industry practices at Sugar Research Australia’s Brandon research station, just north of Ayr, Queensland. With the visit providing an invaluable opportunity for the visiting researchers to learn about Sap Flow Meter and Psychrometer installation techniques in Sugar Cane from SRA’s experienced senior researchers who are using these sensors to establish water use efficiency and drought tolerance of breeding lines.
